Further information about confidentiality, record keeping, retention periods and data protection is provided to clients as part of the counselling agreement before therapy begins.

Client records and counselling notes are normally retained for three years after counselling has ended, after which they are securely deleted or destroyed, unless there is a legal, ethical or professional reason to retain them for longer.
